Meet your WA Team
Hi my name's Sami. I'm a military spouse of 6 years and currently live in the PNW. We've been through 3 duty stations together, Hawaii to San Diego to now here in Everett! I'm a domestic engineer, as my wife likes to call me but she means a sahm lol. I have a deaf son who does all my adventures with me and gets to explore so much in his first 2 years. I love hiking, 5k's, paintballing, baking and cooking, ASL and football on the weekends (Go Blue!).
Favorite Adventure: Deception Pass
Favorite Trail Snack: pistachios, cliff protein bars in mint chip
I always pack water, extra socks, first aid kit, external battery
Hey! My name is Koti. I’m an Army spouse currently stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington with my husband and our adventure pup. We’ve been fortunate enough to be stationed in: Hawaii, Georgia, Texas, Kansas and now the beautiful PNW! I’m currently in a Master’s program for Biology/Conservation. When I'm not studying, I love hiking, snowshoeing, stand up paddle boarding, and practicing photography. One of my favorite things about hiking is that the challenge is rewarded by the view and feeling of accomplishment. I'm always on the lookout for new places to explore!
Favorite Adventure: One of my absolute favorite experiences was going on a safari in Botswana and Zambia. We saw the most amazing animals, felt connected to nature and the people, and even did a Bush walk to see endangered white rhinos and a new baby calf. We took a boat through the Okavango Delta (with hippos and crocodiles following) and swam at the top of Victoria Falls.
Favorite Trail Snack: Bobo’s bars, trail mix, and dried mango.
I always pack lots of Water! Clif Bloks for quick energy, first aid kit and my phone/camera because pictures or it didn’t happen! LOL!
Hello! My name is Megan and I am a United States Navy wife, originally from Eastern Ohio but currently enjoying the Evergreen State -WASHINGTON- with my husband and two kids. GO BUCKEYES! The Navy has taken us from Ohio to Virginia, Mississippi, California and now here to Washington. Our love for adventure started when we were stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. We started visiting National Parks and continued our journey as the Navy moved us across the US. We are so lucky that the military allows us and our kids to experience the great outdoors.
Favorite Adventure: Mount Saint Helens Summit
Favorite Trail Snack: Chomps Beef Sticks, Lemon LaraBars and kid approved-homemade Trail Mix
I always pack my trusty fanny pack. It holds everything you need in arms reach: chapstick, sunscreen, multitool and a snack.
This Could be you...

Author: Christine Reed
Christine discovered long distance backpacking while surfing the internet at work. She decided that day to attempt to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. One adventure led to another and a few years later she set out on the Wonderland Trail in Mt Rainier National Park. Her Rugged Outdoors Woman persona started as a joke, a nod to the outdoor adventurer that she wished to be. But in the years since, she has come into her own as a backpacker, rock climber, and trail runner. Her book, “Alone in Wonderland,” is a testament to the decision to name who you want to be and make it so.
Author: Jamie McGillen
Jamie McGillen lives in the shadow of Mount Rainier, and no matter how many times she moves away, it draws her home. Everything about large evergreen trees delights her, except how poky they are, and the sap. Her first novel In Sight of the Mountain was released in 2019, with sequels released in 2020 and 2021. Her poems and essays have been published in Rust + Moth, Marathon Literary Review, The Raven Chronicles Journal, Avalon Literary Review, and Arcturus Literary Magazine.
