Hi there! My name is Angelica but I go by Angie. I am a Navy Spouse and a stay at home, homeschooling mom of two awesome adventure buddies plus our golden retriever Odin. Originally from Maine where my husband and I met, we now reside here in Washington state. We have been here in Washington for the past 11 years, bouncing around between Everett, Bremerton and Whidbey Island. Whidbey Island has been our absolute favorite duty station here in Washington. Being in Washington for so many years has given us an amazing opportunity to dive deep into the wilderness of the PNW. We’ve traveled up to the northwestern most point of the U.S. at Cape Flattery and down into Oregon. We’ve been able to go to all three national parks here and have our eyes on Crater Lake National Park in the near future. We try our hardest to spend most of our time outside, my kids really enjoy hunting for mushrooms! Having a child with developmental delays has made this task a little more difficult, but we strive to find the best places that make enjoying the outdoors accessible for our daughter. Our family enjoys camping, mushroom hunting, swimming in the beautiful alpine lakes, kayaking, hiking, and chasing waterfalls amongst other things. To keep my sanity I frequently practice yoga and am currently in the process of getting my YTT certification. I also enjoy powerlifting as a little escape.

Favorite Adventure: So far my favorite adventure would be flying to see my husband in O’ahu at the end of his last deployment. We were able to enjoy the honeymoon we never had 11 years later! We snorkeled at Sharks Cove and at Kane’ohe Bay. Saw the Honu swimming along the reefs near Mokoli’i and ate all the food.

Favorite Trail Snack: My kids and I love to pack protein balls we make together for our adventures

Hi my name is Chris, retired from the US Air Force and as a Department of the Army civilian. My wife of 27 years and I have lived in DuPont, Wa. since 2016. Spent 40 years of servicestationed around the US, Europe and Asia, most notably almost 20 years in Korea. I was a Fire Chief and a Weather Forecaster. I am originally from England, UK and was stationed in Washington twice during my career. Once at Fairchild AFB, Spokane, where I became a US Citizen and once at McChord AFB where I decided when I retire this will be my home. We love to hike, bike ride and play golf. I also like to video record my adventures with close to 300 videos on YouTube. We hike or bike weekly, year round. I’m in my 70s so nothing extreme, normally 5-7 miles max.

Hey! My name is Koti. I’m an Army spouse currently stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington with my husband and our adventure pup. We’ve been fortunate enough to be stationed in: Hawaii, Georgia, Texas, Kansas and now the beautiful PNW! I’m currently in a Master’s program for Biology/Conservation. When I'm not studying, I love hiking, snowshoeing, stand up paddle boarding, and practicing photography. One of my favorite things about hiking is that the challenge is rewarded by the view and feeling of accomplishment. I'm always on the lookout for new places to explore!

Favorite Adventure: One of my absolute favorite experiences was going on a safari in Botswana and Zambia. We saw the most amazing animals, felt connected to nature and the people, and even did a Bush walk to see endangered white rhinos and a new baby calf. We took a boat through the Okavango Delta (with hippos and crocodiles following) and swam at the top of Victoria Falls.

Favorite Trail Snack: Bobo’s bars, trail mix, and dried mango.

Hello! My name is Megan and I am a United States Navy wife, originally from Eastern Ohio but currently enjoying the Evergreen State -WASHINGTON- with my husband and two kids. GO BUCKEYES! The Navy has taken us from Ohio to Virginia, Mississippi, California and now here to Washington. Our love for adventure started when we were stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. We started visiting National Parks and continued our journey as the Navy moved us across the US. We are so lucky that the military allows us and our kids to experience the great outdoors.

Favorite Adventure: Mount Saint Helens Summit

Favorite Trail Snack: Chomps Beef Sticks, Lemon LaraBars and kid approved-homemade Trail Mix

Hey! My name is Melissa and I’m an Army veteran and Navy spouse. My family and I are currently stationed at Naval Submarine Base Bangor where we have called home for the last 2 years and hopefully for another tour. We have been lucky enough to call home in many places such as: Hawaii, Connecticut, Guam and now here in the beautiful PNW! I’m currently a stay at home mom with 2 kids who keep me quiet busy with school and their activities. I’m also waiting to be accepted into the Dental Hygiene program where I will hopefully receive my Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene Degree. When I’m not busy with my kids and school I love to hike (with or without my kids), paddle board, kayak, golf and on occasion you can catch me in my garage building or making something.

Favorite Adventure: Every adventure I’ve been on so far has been my favorite!

Favorite Trail Snack: You won’t catch me without my homemade trail mix and chomps beef sticks!

Christine discovered long distance backpacking while surfing the internet at work. She decided that day to attempt to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. One adventure led to another and a few years later she set out on the Wonderland Trail in Mt Rainier National Park. Her Rugged Outdoors Woman persona started as a joke, a nod to the outdoor adventurer that she wished to be. But in the years since, she has come into her own as a backpacker, rock climber, and trail runner. Her book, “Alone in Wonderland,” is a testament to the decision to name who you want to be and make it so.

Her poems and essays have been published in Rust + Moth, Marathon Literary Review, The Raven Chronicles Journal, Avalon Literary Review, and Arcturus Literary Magazine.
