Lara Reed-Rivera
Hi, my name is Lara. I am a Navy wife passionate about traveling, hiking, and reading a great book! I am originally from Illinois, but currently call San Diego home with my spouse and our chocolate lab. I am a special education teacher and administrator dedicated to inclusive opportunities. I also enjoy softball and baseball, cozy nights at home, and visiting my family.

I have always loved the outdoors, but my love of hiking grew from living in Washington state. I did some epic hikes and really learned so much about myself each time. Of all the national parks we have visited, my favorite is Mount Rainier National Park, though many others are a close second. My dream is to explore them all!
My favorite adventures have been cross-country road trips! I love exploring new places and checking out different food, activities, and ways of life.
Extra water and a cooling towel are my necessities!

Christine discovered long distance backpacking while surfing the internet at work. She decided that day to attempt to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. One adventure led to another and a few years later she set out on the Wonderland Trail in Mt Rainier National Park. Her Rugged Outdoors Woman persona started as a joke, a nod to the outdoor adventurer that she wished to be. But in the years since, she has come into her own as a backpacker, rock climber, and trail runner. Her book, “Alone in Wonderland,” is a testament to the decision to name who you want to be and make it so.
