I have spent the last eight years working in outdoor leadership and instruction. My favorite outdoor pursuits are backpacking, expedition canoeing, and whitewater kayaking. I believe that connecting with the landscapes that surround us is integral to our mental and physical well being, and is an incredible way to find happiness and appreciation for wherever it is that we call home. My favorite places on earth are the deserts of Big Bend, the mountains of New Zealand, and any trail or river that rambles through a unique place.

I am also a writer, and I enjoy work in both fiction and creative nonfiction. I have published and presented personal and academic essays, and am a co-founder and editor for the literary online publication, Steel House Review.
